Dr. Jeff Wigton received his Bachelor of Science degree from Grove City College where he graduated with honors. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, receiving the Alumni Association Award for academic average, the Clinical Excellence Award, and the Crozier Memorial Award for excellence in the study of anatomy and pathology. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he received Nikon and Wildermuth Scholarships, and completed a rotation in the Pediatric Unit of The Eye Institute. Dr. Wigton is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa international optometric honor fraternity, the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association, where he is a charter member of the Contact Lens and Cornea section. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, where he is a member of the section on Ocular Disease. His interests include primary/general eye care, contact lenses, pediatric eye care, diseases of the eye, and medical treatment of eye disease. He has published several articles in peer reviewed journals in the field of eye disease, and has received Optometric Recognition Awards for continuing education from the American Optometric Association. |
William R. Wigton, O.D.

Dr. Bill Wigton graduated from the Stony Brook School in New York. Undergraduate studies at Wittenburg University in Springfield, Ohio, were followed by four years of service in The United States Navy, including tours of duty at the Naval Air Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; the USS Douglas H. Fox; the USS H. J. Ellison, Norfolk, VA; and the Philadelphia Naval Base in Philadelphia, PA. After an honorable discharge, undergraduate studies continued at Grove City College. Dr. Wigton pursued his post graduate studies at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. His interests include primary/general eye care, geriatric eye care and low vision services, contact lenses, diseases of the eye, and medical treatment of eye disease. He is a recipient of the Optometric Recognition Award from the American Optometric Association, and he frequently lectures on topics related to eye care. |
Christina M. Thrash, O.D.

Dr. Thrash is a Butler native and an alumnus of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she graduated with honors. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she was awarded a Wildermuth Scholarship and received the Clinical Excellence Award. She is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Her interests include primary eyecare, geriatric eye care and low vision, contact lenses, diseases of the eye, and medical treatment of eye disease. On behalf of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, she is currently lecturing on the new standards of vision care for children. When not in the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. |
Jeffrey S. Dreier, O.D.

Dr. Jeff Dreier received his B.S. degree in Biology from Grove City College in 2003. He went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia where he graduated in 2007 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Dreier completed several internships including rotations at the Eye Clinic at the Browning Community Hospital in Browning, Montana, the center of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation; Draisin Vision Group, a large vision therapy practice in Charleston, SC; and Laurel Eye Clinic in Altoona, PA. He completed his specialty training with a rotation in the Pediatric service at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. Dr. Dreier is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. His interests include primary eye care, contact lenses, pre and post operative care of refractive surgery and cataracts, and medical treatment of eye disease. His outside interests include the living history and material culture of the Civil War. |
Our Office Staff
While most of our staff members spend some time in the front office area, Renel, Melissa F. and Kathryn usually greet patients visiting or calling our Butler office. Linda has dealt with insurance claims and billing for 15 years and is quite knowledgeable about insurance benefits and claim submission. Diane is our bookkeeper and insurance coordinator and spends most of her time keeping the financial end of the office running smoothly. She has 21 years of experience in this field.
Carol and Beth are our technicians who work with patients in pretesting and perform special ancillary tests like retinal photography, visual fields, topography and other high tech diagnostic instruments. Carol has 16 years experience, and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and the American Optometric Association. She also serves in quality management care and is our Medicare Compliance Coordinator and our Privacy Officer. Beth has 8 years of experience and is certified by the American Optometric Association. She also coordinates the contact lens ordering and dispensing and she is very well versed in the area of contact lenses and solutions. Becky, Kristin, Katie, Laura and Tina are our opticians who assist patients in choosing the proper frames and lenses. They are knowledgeable about the benefits of the various types of frames and lenses, and help patients choose the best glasses for their respective lifestyles. They are skilled at adjusting glasses so they are comfortable and function well. Melissa is also one of our contact lens technicians, and has a business degree from the Bradford Business School. She has 8 years of optical experience. Tina has 4 years experience assisting patients with frame and lens selection. Becky is a new addition to the Wigton Team and has 4 years experience assisting patients with frame and lens selection.
Tracey is our fabricating optician who spends most of her time in the lab edging and finishing lenses so they fit into the frames chosen by the patients. She also helps out with frame and lens selection and other office duties. She has 23 years of experience and has a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
